About the role

Position Summary

The Assistant Vice President, Broadcasting Operations provides leadership and operational oversight for the execution and delivery of high-quality broadcast and digital streaming productions for University of South Florida Athletics. This position serves as the primary operational and production lead for assigned live broadcasts and network-level telecasts and works in close partnership with the Associate Vice President, Broadcast and Live Event Productions. The role is responsible for day-to-day production management, creative and technical execution, staffing coordination, and continuous improvement of USF’s broadcast operations.

Key Responsibilities

Broadcast Production & Operations

  • Support the planning and execution of live broadcasts and digital streaming productions for USF Athletics.
  • Serve in a producing and assistant producing role for assigned live broadcasts and conference- or network-required telecasts.
  • Coordinate broadcast logistics, schedules, and production requirements with conference offices and broadcast partners, including ESPN.
  • Provide creative and technical direction in collaboration with the Associate Vice President, Broadcast and Live Event Productions.
  • Oversee daily production operations, including staffing, scheduling, call sheets, rundowns, and run-of-show development.
  • Direct and coordinate production crews, technical staff, freelancers, and student employees.

Content Development & Post-Production

  • Support the creation of broadcast content, including concept development and execution.
  • Oversee post-production workflows, including editing, graphics, highlights, and content delivery.
  • Ensure all post-production deliverables meet established quality standards and deadlines.
  • Maintain consistent production quality across linear, conference network, and digital streaming platforms.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with conference partners, broadcast networks, production vendors, and internal athletics stakeholders.
  • Partner with marketing, sponsorship, and digital teams to align broadcast content with departmental objectives.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to enhance fan engagement and brand visibility.

Budget, Equipment & Vendor Management

  • Assist in the development and management of broadcast and post-production budgets.
  • Monitor equipment needs and support procurement, documentation, and inventory management.
  • Coordinate with vendors to support broadcast and post-production technology and services.
  • Assist with receiving, documentation, and tracking of production equipment and assets.

Compliance, Training & Development

  • Ensure production workflows align with University and departmental policies and internal controls.
  • Support compliance with institutional, conference, and network standards.
  • Train and mentor student employees, interns, and part-time staff.
  • Stay current with emerging broadcast and post-production technologies and best practices.
 

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, media production, communications, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in live broadcast or network television production.
  • Experience in producing, assistant producing, or production management roles.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing post-production workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast control room operations and production workflows.
  • Experience coordinating productions with broadcast networks or conference partners.
  • Working knowledge of broadcast and post-production equipment and technologies.
  • Experience supervising production crews, freelancers, or student employees.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
