Summary/Objective

The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving top-line revenue growth and expanding the company's market share primarily in the bulk and project cargo logistics sector. This strategic role involves identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities related to oversized, heavy-lift, and non-containerized shipments while also managing and growing relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders. The successful candidate will leverage deep industry knowledge to develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies, negotiate complex contracts, and ensure seamless coordination with operations teams to provide world-class service to our customers. Candidate should also be equipped to pivot into other areas of supply chain management (e.g., finished vehicles, intermodal).

Essential Functions

· Key member of team responsible for directing company's overall commercial strategy, specifically customer account goals, servicing of existing portfolio and new business development

· Lead High & Heavy, Bulk and POV cargo via relationships with ocean carriers and BCO’s. Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to achieve company objectives

· Identify and qualify new business opportunities by leveraging industry networks, conducting market research, cold calling, and attending trade shows and conferences

· Proficiency in the development and delivery of commercial / market analytics for identified business development projects

· Lead the preparation and delivery of compelling proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Quotation (RFQs)

· Skillfully develop, negotiate and close agreements and contracts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring favorable terms and adherence to company policies.

· Focus on commercial revenue and volume growth strategy through customer diversification, service scope, territorial expansion, and revenue enhancement

· Support IT Data Quality improvement processes leading to improved KPIs, operational efficiencies and commercial profitability

· ESG reporting and infrastructure innovation with grants investigation to increase company value

· Mentor and support AMPORTS’ future leaders

· Stay ahead of market trends, perform competitive analysis, and provide valuable market insights to the executive team

· Collaborate closely with operations, finance and marketing teams to ensure a seamless execution of logistics solutions and project delivery

· Maintain accurate records of sales activities in the company CRM system and provide regular reports and sales forecasts to management

· Ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously while working to grow book of business

· Possess efficient and effective planning skills

· Must have ability to self-start and effectively handle contract management / negotiation and P&L analytics

· Success in negotiating and building long-term business relationships

· Possess business acumen and demonstrate ownership of position

· Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities to identify inefficiencies, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, presentation abilities, and strong negotiation skills

Qualifications and Skills

· Experience: At least 5 years of experience in project cargo forwarding, including break bulk, heavy lift, international, and multimodal operations. A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving significant business growth is essential. Finished Vehicles supply chain knowledge also considered

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field required; MBA or applicable professional certification is a plus

· Industry Expertise: Deep commercial and operational understanding of general cargo, break bulk, oversized, and heavy lift shipments

· Technical Proficiency: Computer and financial analysis lite
