Description

The Financial Project Specialist plays a pivotal role in aligning financial strategies with the company’s operational objectives. Serving as a liaison between the accounting department and other operational departments, this role ensures that financial processes and projects align with the business's needs. By working closely with the Director of Finance, the Accounting Department, and Departmental Managers, the Financial Project Specialist provides financial insights, conducts system analysis, manages financial documentation, and leads budgetary elements of cross-departmental projects in addition to leading any priority special financial projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in financial management, project management, or a related area.
  • Ability to interpret and understand gaming regulatory requirements, with gaming experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger account reconciliation and capital budgeting, with knowledge of applicable federal, state and local reporting requirements and laws and regulations relating to applicable financial operations and a thorough understanding of generally-accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of information technology operations, applications hardware and configurations in a casino and hotel environment.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • ‘Hands-on” ability to not only manage project outcomes to their required deadlines, but also to specifically perform the required work necessary to ensure the successful outcome.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in financial software and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

 

Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination: Assist in integrating and preparing financial elements within various company projects, ensuring they align with budgetary constraints and accounting principles.
  • Financial liaison: Serve as the bridge between the accounting department and other business units, ensuring seamless communication and understanding of financial data and its implications on operations.
  • Information Systems Analysis: Regularly review and suggest improvements to financial systems and tools to ensure they are functional, updated, and tailored to the needs of both the accounting department and other business units.
  • Documentation Management: Oversee the organization, updating, and maintenance of critical financial documentation, ensuring compliance and ease of access.
  • Budget Analysis: Work closely with department heads to develop and monitor departmental budgets, ensuring adherence and providing reports to the Director of Finance on budgetary statuses.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review financial processes, identifying inefficiencies and recommending improvements that can enhance operational efficiency.
  • Offer guidance and training on financial systems, processes, and best practices to staff across the organization, ensuring a company-wide understanding of financial operations.
