Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption. Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.
Job Description
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Outpatient Leukemia and Clinical Trial team. In this role, you will deliver the highest quality of comprehensive care to patients with leukemia.
As part of a dedicated team, you will closely collaborate across several clinics within the leukemia service, to include the clinical research team. We are looking for an APP to work in the outpatient settings with our exceptional team to provide comprehensive care to our patients.
Hours: 4, 10 hour shifts/week (8:00a-6:00p)
We Are: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will join a team of over 900 NPs and PAs across MSK who are dedicated to delivering compassionate, expert and comprehensive cancer care to patients and families, supporting the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution and department. You Are:• A good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward• Able to work effectively in an environment notable for complex, sometimes contradictory information• Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals• Effective at gaining the support and commitment of others by engaging them around your point of view and priorities• Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances You Will:• Provide comprehensive care to the outpatient Leukemia patients• Meet the medical needs of patients• Participate in the implementation of patient education and clinical support programs to ensure optimal care throughout the healthcare continuum•Collaborate with designated physicians and research team members (consisting of the principal investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, Data Managers and Nursing Staff) to develop and conduct clinical trials•Participate in the institutional review process, including the in writing/reviewing protocols, as indicated•Screen patients for protocols, determining patient’s eligibility, participate in the informed consent process and provide education for patients considering enrollment or enrolled on a clinical trial•Clinical responsibilities include monitoring toxicities, assessing clinical responses and providing exemplary patient care while ensuring the protocol is conducted in a high quality manner in in-patient and out-patient settings
Qualifications needed for a PA candidate are:• Graduate from an accredited PA program• NCCPA certification• Active NYS license or be qualified for state licensure• A minimum of 2-3+ years of experience as an APP in leukemia and clinical research preferred• Strong background dealing with high acuity patients Qualifications needed for an NP candidate are:• Current New York State (NYS) RN and NP licenses/registrations• Master’s degree in nursing, prescriptive privileges (or eligibility)• Related National NP certification• A minimum of 2-3+ years of experience as an APP in leukemia with clinical research experience preferred• Strong background dealing with high ac
