Position: Distribution Area Manager
Location: Romeoville, IL.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

(Occasionally required to work weekends and overtime as needed)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide leadership and hands-on involvement for the Distribution department, ensuring internal and external customer demands are met while driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost. You will utilize Lean Manufacturing tools to optimize operations, develop talent, and manage day-to-day activities efficiently.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Leading a team of approximately 30 associates to meet customer demands.
  • Driving operational excellence by using Lean Manufacturing tools to meet safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost goals.
  • Managing projects and setting direction for areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Creating and executing data-driven action plans to improve standard work and team performance.
  • Managing labor availability to meet workload requirements and enhancing cross-training for flexibility.
  • Communicating business information to associates in a timely manner, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Collaborating with technical staff to pursue process improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluating associate performance, development plans, and merit recommendations.
  • Ensuring all associates comply with company policies and fostering a culture of excellence.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 1+ year of direct management experience (BA/BS degree is a plus).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both senior leaders and associates.
  • Experience with data analysis, problem-solving, and reporting.
  • Solid scheduling, planning, and project management skills.
  • Nice to have: knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and principles.
  • Nice to have: experience with inventory management and basic financial understanding.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands for this position may require occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, standing, walking, and the ability to work in various conditions (e.g., exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, and extreme temperatures). Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas.
