About the role

The Coast Guard (CG) Health Services Program supports the National Security Strategy by providing health care services to Coast Guard members worldwide who support the nation's economic, social and military security in the maritime environment. MHS GENESIS (MHS-G) is an integrated inpatient/outpatient Best of Suite (BoS) solution, augmented by Best of Breed (BoB) products to meet the Coast Guard approved requirements for ashore and afloat locations, and provides the integration and standardization required in health care records management between the Department of War (DoW), United States CG (USCG), and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Defense Health Agency (DHA)’s JOMIS Operational Medicine Healthcare Solution Suite focuses on modernizing and enhancing health information technology for operational medicine and aims to provide the DoD and CG afloat locations with the necessary information technology capabilities to meet its operational medicine requirements, both existing and emerging.

Leidos is seeking an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Training Specialist to work REMOTELY and support its USCG contract, known as Training & Optimization Support Services for the Electronic Health Record Eco-systems.  This highly visible program provides modernization of Electronic Health Records (EHR) capabilities for the Department of War and Department of Homeland Security supporting nearly 10 million service members and their families worldwide. While every healthcare system addresses quality, user experience and cost, the MHS GENESIS program has the added challenge of delivering these objectives within the DOD security environment, at the DOD’s global scale, all while supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA)’s vision of a medically ready force ─ which is essential to our national defense.  

Remote with preference in the following regions:  NCR, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Caribbean, FL/Gulf South, Inland/Great Lakes, CA/Pacific NW, Alaska

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Trainer will join the Training Team responsible for providing services in support of all levels of users across the United States Coast Guard (USCG) enterprise – existing and new end-users, peer experts, and super users. You will provide a variety of support services to better enable users to perform their clinical and business support workflows. The services shall include clinical and functional workflow adoption, end-user engagement of MHS GENESIS and its integrated applications (i.e. Health Data Intelligence, Dentrix, Joint Legacy Viewer, Patient Portal, etc.), curriculum and content assessment and development, support on use of EHR University (ERHu), knowledge management, stakeholder

engagement, resource allocation, gap analysis, and virtual learning support across the enterprise. Your efforts will support the implementation, deployment, and sustainment of new capabilities for a dynamic and expanding portfolio of additional health solutions. 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage and implement EHR system curriculums based on position-specific workflows.
  • Collect data from customer satisfaction surveys to continuously evaluate course effectiveness. Utilize data to update and improve existing materials.
  • Deliver content for instructor-led training (ILT) in accordance with enterprise standards.
  • Deliver content for Optimization sessions in accordance with enterprise standards.
  • Encourage classroom participation and facilitate change management for target audiences.
  • Discover and apply customer needs/business knowledge to ensure client satisfaction of delivery outcomes.
  • Prepare instructional aids and plans and determine training objectives and goals.
  • Formulate training outlines and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and effectiveness of such individual methods as individual training, group instruction, over the shoulder support, and virtual training.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training and development programs and utilize relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
  • Coordinate or perform administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs.
  • Provide formal and informal implementation guidance, integration, and change management support tasks (on the job training, formal and informal classroom, and over the shoulder training) in a dynamic and interpersonal setting to support functional users (medical and dental providers) requiring assistance in implementing, using, and integrating EHR solutions into the military medical clinical business process.
