We are looking for Fiber Drop Installation Professionals to perform drop construction services including, but not limited to: underground and overhead drop installations; splicing; stick, pneumatic and directional drill boring; trenching; operating a mini skid steer; plowing; digging; gaffing; along with ladder-work outside of homes and businesses.

Skill-set Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

A: Splicing

1. Safely and efficiently splice cables in residential and commercial environments.
2. Performs skilled duties related to copper and fiber splicing, and preventive cable maintenance.
3. Splice single drop fiber cables in all environments (aerial, buried, underground, and buildings).
4. Installation and dressing of fiber optic cables.
5. Prep and install both aerial and underground splice enclosures along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of fiber optic cables.
6. Ability to fusion or mechanical splice SM or MM fiber optic cables, including terminating various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC) for homes and businesses.

B: Underground Drop

1. Safely and efficiently install underground cables in residential and commercial environments.
2. Use best practices for installing underground wiring so as not to violate local building codes.
3. Operate various trenching equipment such as a mini skid steer or walk beside trencher.
4. Locate existing, buried copper and fiber facilities and comply with 811 requirements (OneCall) before any beginning any digging projects, properly identifying other utility flags and safely working around other utilities.
5. Load reel trailers with strand, fiber or cable as required.
6. Bury cable and conduit systems by operating any blowing, plowing, digging, boring, and/or trenching equipment and pulling fiber and cable through conduit systems.

C: Overhead Drop

1. Safely and efficiently install overhead cables in residential and commercial environments.
2. Use best practices for installing underground wiring so as not to violate local codes and regulations or customer specifications.
3. Load reel trailers with strand, fiber or cable as required.
4. Hang overhead cable or strand using various methods including, but not limited to, a ladder, bucket truck, or gaffs.
5. Pull fiber and cable through conduit systems.

Requirements

• General knowledge of residential and commercial construction methods.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Aptitude to read and interpret fiber records, staking sheets, specification sheets, and circuit diagrams
• Ability to splice fiber as directed.
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets the company’s minimum safety standards.
• Thorough understanding of hand tools and power tools.
• Proficient in Internet-related applications such as email and web browsers.
• In-depth understanding of technology-based services, products, and networking.
• Able to meet physical requirements: climb ladders, work in confined spaces and/or various heights, lift and/or move up to 75 lbs., squat, kneel, bend, crawl, and stand for long periods of time.
• Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to work.

Schedule:

• Regularly scheduled to work 40 hours a week.

Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a pre-employment screen, including a drug test and an acceptable driving record.
