POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, a leading philanthropic organization committed to strengthening the foundations of our communities. The Leader, Health Living (Membership Supervisor) will oversee all membership components and leadership of the Healthy Living Department within the West Region to ensure membership goals and objectives are met. Supervision of the Healthy Living Department includes but is not limited to Member Engagement, Facilities, Group Exercise and Family Programs. The position will be responsible for developing and managing successful financial plans and strategies to grow membership and its value in the region. The Leader, Healthy Living will engage and train staff to provide a high quality of service to members and the community.
-Recruiting, training and leading staff team to provide high quality programming.
-Innovating and implementing new programs that serve members and guests.
-Development, implementation and management of successful annual financial plans.
-Engaging community stakeholders to identify prospective investors who have the capacity to contribute significant gifts to advance the Y’s strategic plan.

Essential Functions
Membership Marketing, Sales and Retention and Program Development Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and manages a membership marketing, sales, engagement and retention plan that promotes recruitment of new members and retention of existing members, meet monthly and annual membership targeted income goals, and ensure members receive premier service by adherence to all YMCA membership policies, procedures, and best practices.
Develops, produces, and distributes program information necessary to promote YMCA programs.
- Maintains website for member updates, hours of operation, online member registration and Open Door. Collaborates with Leadership Team to ensure web content is up to date and in accordance with the membership and marketing plan. Oversees updates to promotional displays and lobby marketing.
- Identifies local businesses for potential membership recruitment and lead generation
- Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.
- Develops expertise in the YMCA brand, including standards on voice, messaging, and graphics. Acts as the branch’s brand coach, helping all staff members communicate our cause – strengthening community – by helping them improve their implementation of brand standards. Acts as the branch marketing point person.
- Become a branch super-user for Daxko Operations and Daxko Engage.
- Develops effective working relationships with service groups, community organizations and companies to foster a positive image of the YMCA and to encourage good public relations.
- Maintains and provides membership-related statistics, sales, and retention reports as a tool to reach other goals and as needed for association reporting.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings, takes, and keeps minutes of each meeting to document discussions.
- Participates in all branch and Association trainings, meetings, and events. Serves as an active member of the association’s membership cabinet and marketing cabinet.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Functions:
- Understand the mission and play a vital role in the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette’s Strategic Plan.
- Participate in all Regional Staff Meetings and functions.
- Ability to work well in high stress situations, responding properly to critical incidents, and act swiftly in emergency situations.
- Must be able to delegate appropriately, establish productive relations with staff team, volunteers, donors, school districts, new communities, etc.
- Ability to conduct and manage large programs within the West Region’s budget and goals.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond
