Position Location: Jackson, will require some work in and travel to Memphis.
Mileage paid for travel.
Cell Phone Allowance: $55 monthly
The Reportable Event Management Specialist is responsible for the oversight and management of reportable events in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) industry. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies by meticulously documenting, investigating, and resolving reportable incidents. The Specialist will serve as a liaison between the organization, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting and follow-up on all reportable events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Event Reporting and Documentation
    • Coordinate the timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and events that meet regulatory and organizational criteria for reportability.
    • Ensure that all reportable events are documented in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as organizational policies.
  • Investigation and Analysis
    • Conduct thorough investigations of reported events, including interviewing staff, reviewing documentation, and gathering other pertinent information.
    • Analyze incidents to determine root causes and identify trends or patterns that may indicate systemic issues.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Liaison
    • Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies regarding reportable events.
    • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies within established timeframes.
    • Stay updated on changes to regulations and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Follow-Up and Resolution
    • Work with relevant departments to develop and implement corrective action plans to address issues identified during investigations.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and adjust strategies as needed to prevent recurrence.
  • Training and Education
    • Provide training to staff on reporting procedures, regulatory requirements, and best practices for incident management.
    • Develop and maintain educational materials and resources for staff.
  • Data Management and Reporting
    • Maintain an organized and secure database of reportable events and related documentation.
    • Generate reports and analyze data to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing the frequency and severity of reportable events.
    • Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall quality and safety within the organization.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelors’ degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, Local regulations concerning services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with incident management, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly required to lift 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to pull a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Required to regularly stand and walk.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing, and lifting.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Must be able to talk and hear.
