Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to support the GMD Boost Vehicle data review team within the NG Space Sector in Dulles, VA.

Essential Functions (including but not limited to):

• Perform review and analysis of rocket telemetry and simulation test data
• Approve the work of junior staff
• Communicate results to industry and government customers both in written reports and verbal presentations
• Identify and analyze anomalous data to determine root cause
• Support trending analysis program of collected rocket data to determine aging and other environmental effects, and customer field site ground- and flight-testing operations including test execution support and on-site data review
   

Basic Qualifications for Principal System Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 year of experience
• Ability to obtain a Security clearance (SECRET or higher) which requires US Citizenship
• Ability to solve problems, and multi-task , and work in a fast paced team environment onsite at the Dulles, VA facility
• Coding experience in any of the following: MATLAB, Python, Visual Basic - Familiarity with Telemetry Systems
• Ability to travel (approximately 10%) to test venues
• Strong written and verbal communication

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 6 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 year of engineering experience
• Ability to obtain a US DoD Security clearance (SECRET or higher) which requires US Citizenship
• Ability to solve problems, and multi-task , and work in a fast paced team environment onsite at the Dulles, VA facility
• Coding experience in any of the following: MATLAB, Python, Visual Basic - Familiarity with Telemetry Systems
• Ability to travel (approximately 10%) to test venues
• Strong written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active US DoD Secret security clearance
• Experience in a combined Linux/Window OS environment
• Experience with Flight Test Operations and Post-Flight Analysis
• Experience working on DoD / MDA contracts

Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
