Machine Maintenance Technician

Summary
The Machine Maintenance Technician troubleshoots complex machine issues, repairs equipment, and performs preventative maintenance tasks on optical and industrial machinery to ensure optimal production operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, piping, and electrical systems
Execute scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on production machines
Perform calibration and verify test standards meet required tolerances
Manage repair and calibration of tools and measurement devices
Install optical equipment and collaborate with engineering teams
Interpret engineering schematics and procedures for machine diagnostics
Maintain control and traceability of tooling for shop and vendor operations
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance on auto tapers, auto-blockers, generators, polishers, de-blockers, de-tapers, and conveyor belts
Perform general building maintenance repairs
Complete timely production machine repairs and document processes in work order tracking system
Update calibration methods and procedures as required
Key Skills Required
Strong troubleshooting and equipment repair abilities
Proficiency reading technical documentation and specifications
Experience with basic computer programs and work order systems
Ability to work independently and make critical equipment decisions
Manual dexterity for precision work and equipment manipulation
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
One-year certification from college/technical school OR two years directly related maintenance experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods
- Occasionally required to stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Frequent hand manipulation, reach with hands and arms and tactile operations
- Lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds on occasion
- Occasionally required to use stools to reach high shelving
- Close vision abilities and capacity to adjust focus
Safety Requirements
Understanding of workplace safety programs
Wear required PPE (closed-toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves, long sleeved shirts)
Safe tool handling practices
Moderate to loud noise work environment with moving machinery
