Chief Ethanol Fuels is seeking a Materials Manager to join the Chief Team. This position will provide strategic leadership over critical spare parts inventory for the Hastings and Lexington ethanol plants.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage multi-million-dollar inventory supply levels at both plant locations.
- Schedule trucks to meet shipping requirements while ensuring adequate storage space for daily production.
- Ensure inventory levels are adequate to ensure 24/7 operation year-round.
- Partner with Maintenance and Operations to ensure critical spare parts availability for up-time and outage planning.
- Manage and provide leadership and daily direction to warehouse personnel at both Chief Ethanol locations.
- Develop cross-training plans to ensure consistent staffing across both plants.
- Work hand in hand with Maintenance Managers to manage supply and contractor needs during annual plant shutdowns.
- Negotiate with suppliers to purchase necessary goods at the most cost-effective price.
- Standardize processes and parts to reduce needed inventory levels.
- Communicate shipping/receiving schedules and other relevant information to appropriate plant personnel.
- Enter purchase orders for goods.
- Serve as primary liaison between Materials Management, Accounting, Operations, and Maintenance.
- Reconcile all month end inventories and complete necessary month end reports.
- Maintain good relations and communications with co-workers, customers, suppliers, terminals, transporters and railroad personnel.
- Receive, check freight and supply.
- Operate a forklift to move, load, unload and organize parts and supplies.
- Pick up shipments from offsite suppliers with a pickup truck.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Support the Ethanol division by performing other projects as needed.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED, required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, preferred.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of shipping or logistics experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, documentation and carrier systems.
- Knowledge of ethanol plant production, preferred
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Will manage Warehouse personnel at both Hastings and Lexington plants
