Become one of our 30 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.

Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meet-ups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.

Your role as a Trainee – Project Manager Associate

Business Area Heat develops, operates, maintains and optimizes the full value chain of heating and cooling networks and efficient heat and energy production to serve customers and society with reliable heat and electricity in Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Sweden. We aim to grow by delighting our customers and being a preferred partner to cities and other stakeholders. We strive to provide efficient, climate-friendly solutions to the energy transition. While doing this we will focus on healthy cash flows, an excellent safety record and high reliability of production and supply.

OU Heat Projects is responsible for structuring and realizing the most value creating solutions for BA Heat and Vattenfall. This means, that within the various project portfolios new builds- or refurbishment projects are developed and realized. Besides this, staffing of projects with the right people and the development and maintenance of competence pools make the work in Heat Projects quite dynamic.

Your daily activities:

You will support the Project Manager in the development and execution of the project(s) with the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Work in accordance with Vattenfall’s Purpose and Principles, as well as project guidelines
• Assist in setting up and managing the project team(s) to meet the project objectives (e.g. Safety, Budget, Schedule)
• Manage specific sub-projects and/or processes within the project(s)
• Prepare for the next tollgate / project phase as well as the next stage
• Execute work safely, in time and within budget

Your tasks will depend in part on the project as well as your interests and qualification.

Location

You will be working in the department of Heat Projects and the position is located in Amsterdam area in The Netherlands. You will travel to other Vattenfall offices and sites.

As a Trainee – Project Manager Associate, you recognize yourself in the following:

• Master’s degree in a relevant technical or economic field of study
• Knowledge or first experience in project management (development and execution)
• Knowledge about the following topics is preferred:
  • Financial administration, and project control / cost monitoring pre- and post-FID
  • Environmental impact studies/assessments and permitting
  • Plant design/engineering
  • Supporting in permit related processes
  • Risk & Opportunity Management
  • Time-schedule management
  • Making and executing communication plans
  • Preparing management decision material
  • Project valuation
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent Dutch and English language skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
