About the role

The UMB Alternative Investments - Support team provides support to the development of the software used by our Fund Accountants, external Alternative Investment client teams, and Investors to manage the investment portfolio.  This robust software allows them competitive advantages within the Alternative Investments industry which continues to evolve and provides exciting opportunities for individuals to learn new skills, administer new tools, and grow their career.

As an entry-level Software Engineer, you will be providing development support and enhancements for UMB’s Alternative Investments web applications including various other applications.  You will work closely with the Sr. Software Engineer to help design and build enterprise-level solutions. You will look for ways to assist in improving development efficiency and implementing those best practices. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which involves other multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership.  This role is hybrid (2 days on-site) for candidates in the Ogden, UT metropolitan area or Kansas City metropolitan area.

How you’ll spend your time:

  • Assist in implementation of web applications both on-prem and in the cloud.
  • Assist in delivering high-availability services and/or creating responsive, performant, and maintainable websites using API’s or GraphQL including building scalable solutions in a cloud-based infrastructure using common design patterns and principles.
  • Becoming a domain expert on the Alternative Investments business and systems.
  • Assisting the team in the implementation of team’s technical strategy and direction.
  • Help maintain and improve delivery pipelines that include test automation.

We’re excited to talk with you if:

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar discipline and up to 1 year of experience in a technical role supporting or designing web-based or cloud-based technologies.  However, will consider up to 3 years of similar industry experience in lieu of the degree.
  • You have up to 1 year of experience with Node.JS.
  • You have experience with .NET frameworks.
  • You have knowledge in cloud technologies (AWS or Azure).
  • You have knowledge building API’s including core front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • You have knowledge writing SQL queries with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB.
  • You have understanding of CI/CD or DevOps.

 

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $60,795.00 - Mid Point: $86,835.00

The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB’s standard for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
