Work consists of designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and debugging systems, software and solutions for research and/or research development of product, services, and solutions for HPE’s portfolio. HPE is looking for a senior-level Software Engineering Resolution engineer to join our Level 3 global service HPC team. This service engineer is to provide support for high performance computing networks on a variety of supercomputer and cluster based products.  The focus for this position is tracking, communicating and testing issues/fixes and troubleshooting and analyzing Linux networking issues, including performance issues and those tied to HPE’s system/cluster management software/tools.

Responsibilities:

• Designs engineering solutions utilizing multiple engineering disciplines for products, systems, software, and solutions based on established engineering principles and in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines.
• Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of mechanical, electrical, software, and other engineering specifications and requirements.
• Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution
• Leads a project team of other engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for moderately- complex products.
• Represents the mechanical/thermal team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.
• Provide technical support for customer reported issues escalated to level 3 support
• Analyze, reproduce, troubleshoot, isolate, escalate, and resolve issues
• Facilitate high quality communication with customers
• Work with various HPE teams, including but not limited to, HPE Level 2 support, Publications, Training, Support Planning, Testing and Cray R&D
• Test and provide new network software updates and documentation via customer portal
• Document and communicate throughout the whole process of working an issue until closure

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field/discipline
• 5+ years of technical experience, ideally in an HPC-related area

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of Slingshot networking is a plus.
• Using appropriate engineering design tools and software packages to design components and solutions.
