Caterpillar’s Law, Security & Public Policy Division (LSPP) is looking for a Paralegal to join the Global Litigation team. Successful candidates will be able to handle a high volume of critical tasks on strict deadlines, organized, highly motivated, and comfortable applying initiative.
The candidate will have an opportunity to work directly with Litigation attorneys, Litigation Technical Coordinators, and other Litigation paralegals. Legal support and projects will be assigned according to the complexity of the work and by the prior experiences of the candidates on the team. The position will assist Litigation team members with legal tasks and special projects to support and protect the organization. The legal work will be under the direction of various attorneys.
What You Will Do:
- Work directly with Litigation team members in managing a broad range of pre-litigation and litigation matters
- Collaborate directly with Outside Counsel and Experts in managing a broad range of pre-litigation and litigation matters
- Perform discovery tasks such as drafting and issuing information holds in coordination with in-house counsel, and reviewing responses to information holds within eDiscovery software, Relativity
- Support Litigation attorneys in responding to subpoenas, discovery requests, and coordinating interviews and depositions of employees
- Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal business partners and stakeholders
- Obtain relevant product-related documents from a wide range of Caterpillar systems in connection with supporting products liability cases

- Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation
- Document Management: Knowledge of document management; ability to categorize, integrate, update, document and distribute business information in a secure, effective way
- Legal Analysis: Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information
- Legal Function: Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the legal function or department; ability to provide legal consulting, advice and assistance
Top Candidates will also have:
- Experience with litigation is preferred but not required

- The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL

- International and Domestic travel up to 5%
