Job Summary
The Ultrasound Sonographer Extern supports the Ultrasound Department by assisting sonographers with daily workflow activities while gaining valuable hands-on clinical experience. This position promotes exceptional patient care and customer service by maintaining a professional image and fostering positive relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with McLeod Health's Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Prepare, clean, and stock ultrasound exam rooms between patient appointments.
  • Assist sonographers with departmental workflow and report preparation.
  • Support patient care activities under the direction of licensed sonographers and department leadership.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, family members, visitors, and ancillary departments.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Promote and support the mission, vision, values, and service standards of McLeod Health.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
 
Work Schedule: PRN (As Needed)
 
Required Training
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) program.
 
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

 

Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
