We are looking for a full-time Crisis Support Specialist to join our Chicago, IL NYAP team! This role will be for our Center for Family Engagement and Well-Being program.
We are seeking one Crisis Support Specialist for Wednesday thru Sunday 5p thru 1am. Days off will be off Monday and Tuesday.
*The person in this role will have an on-call responsibility of 4 additional hours on Monday and Tuesday to cover 9a to 5p Saturday and Sunday.*
The on-call schedule includes both phone and/or in-person support on Monday and Tuesday evenings/overnights from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m., split between the two Clinical Supervisors. It would either involve taking the full 5 p.m.–9 a.m. shift on Monday or Tuesday, or splitting both days from 5 p.m.–1 a.m. The person in this role needs to be flexible to support the team. There will be additional pay for on call hours.
Position Summary
The Crisis Support Specialist works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families served by the National Youth Advocate Program. This position is responsible for taking after hours calls from the answering service to provide support, answer questions, address comments and/or concerns and respond with the appropriate actions

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Crisis Support Specialist will perform duties including, but not limited to:
- Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
- Handle after-hours inbound calls from the answering service.
- Gather information for incident reports from foster parents, write incident reports, and make appropriate notifications to custodial agencies.
- Assess service recipient and community partner needs.
- Provide telephone support to callers. Notify on-call staff of incidents that require regional intervention.
- Manage afterhours placement referrals received while on shift. Consult with regional staff as needed to identify appropriate matches for youth referred. Coordinate with custodial agencies, foster parents, and the region to make placements. Complete all placement paperwork. Assist with locating afterhours emergency respite as needed.
- Assist foster parents to de-escalate crisis situations. Document all interventions and behavioral health services provided via phone.
- Log data regarding afterhours calls and placement requests. Assist with completion of required documentation for placements made during the day. Provide follow up communication to regions.
