About the role

As an Oracle Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our growth path and be recognized as a ‘technical expert’ focusing on core Data Center infrastructure.  You will troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues,  serving as a key problem solver on various data center environments and systems.  You will understand which issues need to be escalated to the appropriate resolver groups, demonstrating your integral role in the team.  You will proactively monitor the development environment by checking system error logs, monitoring ticket queues, and consulting with other groups involved in maintaining the environments.  You will create and maintain documentation on technologies you support, further showcasing your value to the team.  You understand all aspects of the equipment you support.  You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also learn how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved and expected to improve current processes and introduce automation with an aim towards simplification.

What you'll be doing:

  • Hardware installation & configuration of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.
  • Hardware Break/Fix replacement of FRUs
  • Rack installation including putting racks in place, cabling, power up and handoff of servers to internal provisioning teams.
  • Troubleshooting and resolve Telco Connectivity issues
  • Troubleshoot & Replace Network Switch equipment
  • You will communicate within a ticketing environment that is used and supervised by multiple internal Oracle Cloud service owners and teams.
  • Documentation of activities and build/modify SOPs
  • Structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom cables.
  • System power supplies and cabling install, fix and repair
  • You should be able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects
     

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware.
  • Strong interest in learning new DC concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 1+ years working in an IT environment.
  • Experience solving problems on servers, networking devices and IT equipment.
  • Inventory management experience. Ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts.
  • Experience taking OT and ability to respond to critical events as needed.
  • Experience raising issues to Sr. onsite staff and management as needed.
  • IT Hardware Concepts knowledge (RAID, SAN, Linux/Unix, GRUB)
  • Knowledge of trunk infrastructure is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-year or 4-year degree or 3+ Years of experience
  • 1 year+ experience in Structured Cabling Copper/Fiber, testing of cables, Cooling and Electrical systems concepts inside the data center

US: Hiring Range: from $27.02 to $54.13 per hour; from $56,200 to $112,600 per annum. May be eligible for equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
