We are seeking a highly motivated Contract Engineer to join our dynamic surfacing team in Hastings. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth execution of projects by managing contracts, optimising resources, and delivering outstanding results. If you have a strong engineering background and experience in contract and project management then this is a fantastic opportunity for you to join a supportive and high achieving team. 

As a Contract Engineer, you will oversee the successful delivery of = surfacing projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your role with be integral in managing contract obligations, overseeing financial reporting, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with estimators, contract managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects meet quality, safety, and compliance standards

  • Manage assigned contracts efficiently, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, timelines and financial targets

  • Oversee project execution, ensuring quality, safety, and environmental standards are met

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and project outcomes 

  • Contribute to developing cost-effective and innovative engineering solutions for contract bids and variations 

  • Lead by example in promoting a Zero Harm culture in all operations 

 

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

To excel in this role, you will need a strong background in engineering, contract management, and project execution, along with the following: 

  • A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or related field, This is not a requirement for this role 

  • Proven experience in contract management, project delivery, and financial oversight 

  • Experience in surfacing, sealing, or pavement construction would be advantageous

  • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project as well as AWM software 

  • A commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance
