About the role
SUMMARY: The Manager, Enterprise Integration Engineering leads the strategy, delivery, and ongoing optimization of BankUnited's enterprise integration ecosystem. This role is accountable for designing and implementing robust integration solutions--including APIs, event driven patterns, cloud-native services, and vendor platform integrations--that accelerate digital transformation, strengthen system reliability, and enable seamless customer and employee experiences. As both a technical leader and a people manager, this role guides a high-performing team of integration engineers, fostering an engineering culture centered on automation, scalability, resiliency, and continuous improvement. The manager partners closely with architecture, application development, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to modernize integration platforms, uplift engineering standards, and ensure alignment with regulatory and security requirements. This leader is a key contributor to BankUnited's modernization agenda, responsible for advancing our integration capabilities to support faster delivery cycles, improved operational efficiency, and enterprise-wide connectivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
Strategic Leadership & Execution:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field required An advanced degree is preferred
- Develops and owns the enterprise integration strategy across APIs, middleware, event-driven architectures, and cloud integration platforms.
- Establishes engineering standards, patterns, and best practices that ensure scalability, reliability, and secure data movement across the enterprise.
- Drives modernization of legacy integration solutions and align new initiatives with long-term architectural roadmaps.
- Leads the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of integration services supporting digital banking, core banking, cloud services, and vendor systems.
- Oversee operational health of integration platforms, ensuring high availability, proactive monitoring, and rapid incident resolution.
- Champion automation-first approaches for CI/CD pipelines, testing, deployment, and operational support.
- Manages, mentors, and grows a team of integration engineers, fostering continuous learning and engineering excellence.
- Promotes a collaborative, agile, and outcomes-driven culture focused on quality, innovation, and accountability.
- Balances hands-on technical leadership with people leadership to support team success.
- Collaborates with enterprise architecture to align integration solutions with evolving technology standards and architectural direction.
- Works closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to ensure seamless delivery of integrated solutions.
- Partners with business stakeholders understand requirements and translate them into scalable integration designs.
- Ensures all integration solutions adhere to security, regulatory, and data governance standards.
- Implements monitoring, logging, and audit capabilities to support operational visibility and compliance.
- Drives continuous improvement of integration controls and risk mitigation processes.
- Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
- Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
- Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
- Supervises function, projects or services and/or one or more employees, as applicable.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance coaching; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
