Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Clinic Assistant/Scheduler- College of Nursing Community Health Center- Westgate, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for scheduling appointments for patients and handle customer service inquiries.

  • Ensure there is enough time between appointments to allow providers to complete certain examinations and procedures. Other clerical duties may include maintaining databases, faxing, and scanning patient histories, answering phones, and updating patient account information.

  • Manages all aspects of the daily schedule including but not limited to: scheduling and re-scheduling patient appointments, obtaining and updating patient account information, requesting referrals and medical records from community providers, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, coordinating subsidy-application process with patient and Billing Dept.

  • Working collaboratively with the front-office staff to ensure smooth patient experience for all.

  • Maintains a positive and courteous attitude while assisting patients via phone and in-person.

  • Knowledgeable of services and programs provided by the Community Health Center (CHC) and the costs associated with each; inclined to learn and stay current on new programs and services being offered at the Center.

  • Adheres to and abides by all HIPAA Privacy and Security standards throughout.

  • Maintains patient accounts with accurate and updated demographics, contact, and insurance information.

  • Verifies, corrects, and updates insurance information in the EMR.

  • Data entry and reviews details to ensure accuracy.

  • Provides detailed directions to our Center to patients and their family members, as needed.

  • Regularly reporting to manager current trends, concerns, and suggestions regarding scheduling.

  • Attempts to maximize productivity and efficiency of the daily schedule.

  • Assists front-office and meets with team as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of appropriate experience required.

Must be familiar with HIPAA confidentiality regulations

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Fluent in English, Creole, and Spanish.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to manage and schedule 5+ providers.

Capability of operating a multi-line telephone while maintaining a caring, positive attitude with all clinic constituents.

Computer-literate, Microsoft Word and Excel, preferred.

Medical office experience, preferred.

EMR/EHR experience, preferred.

Motivated, self-starter with the ability to take initiative and carry out tasks both thoroughly and effectively .

Knowledge of Insurance and verification, preferred.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
