ABOUT THE ROLE
The Assistant Automation Maintenance Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the Automation maintenance procedures of warehouse automation equipment and systems. Assists in managing the Automation Maintenance staff across our North American facilities as assigned and directed. The department’s primary objective is to support the operation of DC automation equipment through continuous Preventative Maintenance and timely repairs as needed. This position will work extensively with AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot), Shelf Goods to Person technologies as well as vacuum assisted lifting, conveyance, and sortation technologies. The position will work closely with Automation Maintenance manager, DC Operations leaders and third-party partners/contractors.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- The Assistant Automation Maintenance Manager position is responsible for daily equipment and building maintenance support.
- Identify and/or solve operational issues with conveyance and robotic equipment while implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, to strengthen team unity, goals, productivity and results.
- Assist in Hiring, supervision, development and managing of performance for technicians and maintain a positive employee relations environment.
- Assist in the development of maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
- Carry out inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Check electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems of buildings to ensure functionality.
- Assist in the planning and oversight all repair and installation activities.
- Assist in the allocation of workload and supervision of the Automation maintenance staff.
- Assist in the monitoring of equipment spare parts inventory and place orders as directed.
- Assists in monitoring expenses and the budget for Automation maintenance.
- Interacts with contractors and service providers as needed and directed.
- Keep maintenance logs and reports on daily activities for assigned sites.
- Conduct performance evaluations for Automation Maintenance associates as assigned.
- Serve as the Leader for equipment installations and modifications as assigned.
- Work on the floor with the other Maintenance employees to accomplish necessary objectives.
- Ensure department compliance of all safety requirements and proper use of (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment.
- Travel 30-40% (initially, travel will be heavier at the beginning)
- Our warehouses are open 20 hours/day 7 days a week. Some tasks may require weekend and/or late shifts.
- Perform other activities as assigned.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 10+ years' experience in maintenance of technical systems with 3-5 years supervisory experience
- Through understanding and experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance
- Familiarity in drafting and understanding bluep
