Job Description
BESIX is looking for Technical Office Engineers to reinforce the international business unit for future big marine and civil projects (abroad - outside of Europe).
Your role:
- Plan, execute, monitor and control your work package.
- Responsible to ensure that the site is supplied with all documentation, methods and materials needed to carry out the works.
- Prepare the construction method statements, drawings, job safety analysis, risk assessments, lifting plans and inspection and test plans, for permanent works and temporary works where applicable.
- Follow up on the permanent and temporary works design and coordinate this with the site.
- Lead in the planning activities for your scope of work, interfacing with the Planner and Technical Manager.
- Preparation of Material take-off, Requests for Quotation and Purchase Requests for subcontracts and materials required for the construction activities.
- Coordination with subcontractors and suppliers and assist in the preparation of the work requisition/contract for the subcontracted works and Purchase Orders for material supplies.
- Prepare technical and commercial comparison sheets of offers received from the subcontractors and suppliers, and follow up of the subcontracted works and material supplies, including the payment applications.
- Keep the technical library updated including best practices and lessons learned.
- Preparation of pre-qualifications and material approval requests, submittals and follow-up of the approval process.
- Follow-up on the deliveries of materials and invoicing of permanent materials.
Qualifications
- You have a Master degree in civil engineering in construction;
- You have between/around 2 to 5 years of work experience in a construction company, preferably on larger marine and/or civil projects;
- You are fluent in English. Any other language is an asset;
- You are willing to work and live abroad as an expat outside of Europe (Africa, South America);
- You anticipate standard solutions and take initiative and make suggestions, you challenge prevailing assumptions;
- You demonstrate great ability to work effectively and efficiently in constantly changing business environment, you know how to deal with failures and look critically at own work;
- You plan, organize and prioritize own work, you seek confirmation of priorities when confronted with unusual situations, and you report on the state of affairs;
- You understand your role in the team and in the broader departmental organization, you document best practices and coach one or more specialists;
- You demonstrate responsibility and ownership and report spontaneously to your manager;
- You summarize data logically and you check whether your own observations or interpretations are correct;
- Dealing with similar or regularly reoccurring situations, you start to apply risk management analysis;
