Summary

Provides leadership toward a vision of bridging scientific research and clinical care through the Children’s Foundation Research Institute (CFRI).  Serves as a key partner of the CFRI with responsibility for strategic planning, research infrastructure, clinical care standards, program development, and service excellence. Master’s degree in health/hospital administration, business administration, or related field.

• Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and their application to academic medical centers and academic research practices.

Key Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Direction:

• Provides leadership toward the vision of bridging scientific research and clinical care through a matrix model comprised of UTHSC, ULPS, an External Advisory Board, and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
• Develops structures and processes aligned with the strategic plan to ensure effective and efficient support for clinical and translational research activities.
• Provides direction and guidance for all aspects of operations of the Pediatric Clinical Research Unit (PCRU) and oversight responsibility for the CFRI Core and Resource administration.

 

 

Business Planning/Financial:

• Fiscal responsibility for CFRI including Basic Science Cores, Clinical/Administrative Cores, PCRU and research grants program budgets.
• Responsible for development and continuous build- up of the CFRI infrastructure to support research.
• Assists in securing research grants and searching for funding opportunities; prepares and presents financial, statistical, and operational data to support recruitment of research funding sources.
• Serves as a key partner in short and long-term strategy for CFRI.  Aligns resources for strategic plans and engages stakeholders in supporting strategic plans.
• Oversight responsibility for all research related contracts and research accounts at Le Bonheur Foundation to ensure appropriateness and accuracy.

   

Quality/Regulatory:

• Ensures accountability to the highest level of clinical care and research standards.  Creates policy, practice, and provides oversight for regulatory and institutional compliance.
• Coordinates pre-award administration and post-award management of sponsored awards. Ensures compliance with institutional and sponsor policies, guidelines, and regulations.

   

Relationship Management/Business Development:

• Builds and strengthens collaboration with research partners, universities, and community based practice groups.
• Develops processes and standard operating procedures to facilitate the completion of documentation and timely submission of required paperwork and legal documents for new research projects.
