REPORTS TO: Material Program Manager, Material Program Financial Lead
SUPERVISES: None
AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the financial planning, analysis and projection of program material and subcontract costs for new construction and post delivery contracts; prepare reports and projections based on this analysis
Track performance to budget and EACs, investigate and summarize variances; track corrective actions through issue resolution
Create rent versus buy analysis to support program capital expenditure requests
Support manager in the development and calculation of non-Labor costs for a complete Bill of Materials and all required subcontracts in support of proposals from the US Government.
Identify and support cost initiatives along with others in the department.
Support explanations for cost and schedule variances that are utilized in Corporate and Government reporting, including root cause analyses and mitigation plans to offset cost increases.
Support nonlabor cash flow projections for Program vessels as assigned.
Support corporate financial hedging process by helping manager with financial planning, analysis, projection, tracking, and variance explanations required for foreign currency exposures resulting from program material expenditures
Other responsibilities include financial support for Production Management as needed
Coordinate with other members of the program office and finance team to review financial information and forecasts
Generate basis financial models, forecasts, and metrics for new construction and post-delivery business to support project teams and facilitate Production management input where usage projections are needed
Travel (less than 5%) to support calculation of remaining costs (ETCs) and project accurate corporate financial forecasts for post-delivery business.
Continually monitor material spending versus the budget, researching variances and generating variance analysis reports and budget adjustment requests as needed
Work with Cost Accountants to ensure accurate costs or accruals are taken on all material purchases
Calculate accurate earned value progress for material control accounts and support manager in projecting Estimates at Completion (EAC) for multiple vessels
Work with Purchasing Management to understand and facilitate forecasts and drive performance to those forecasts
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics or another related field required. 4 years’ purchasing, accounting or financial experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
1 year purchasing, accounting or financial experience required. Successful completion of Austal SCM Internship program may be substituted for 1 year experience.
Intermediate-level analytical and financial modeling skills
Intermediate skills with Excel spreadsheets using SUMIF and VLOOKUP formulas
Strategic thinking and very detail oriented
Good presentation skills

Excellent time management and organizational ability
Ability to multitask and meet constant deadlines
Able to work long hours when necessary
Ability to analyze data and communicate analysis to Austal management
