About the role

What we do:
Halcyon is the industry’s first dedicated, adaptive security platform that combines multiple proprietary advanced prevention engines along with AI models focused specifically on stopping ransomware.

Who we are:
Halcyon was formed in 2021 by a team of cyber industry veterans after battling the scourge of ransomware (and advanced threats) for years at some of the largest global security vendors. Comprised of leaders from Cylance (now Blackberry), Accuvant (now Optiv), Fireye and ISS X-Force (now IBM), Halcyon is focused on building products and solutions for mid-market and enterprise customers.

As a remote-native, completely distributed global team, we recognize great talent can exist anywhere. We invite you to apply to a job you’re interested in and we'll work a plan to meet your needs.

The Role:

Halcyon is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our Domain Engineering team. In this in-person role based in Austin, Texas, you will serve as the cohesive force that unifies security subject-matter experts with engineering subteams—specifically Cloud, Agent, and Quant—to ensure new security capabilities make it into our product on time and at high quality. You’ll own end-to-end project planning, execution, and communication within Domain Engineering, driving strategic alignment and continuous improvement so that Halcyon’s security domain knowledge directly shapes our roadmap.

Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Project Planning & Execution

    • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables for Domain Engineering initiatives, ensuring security requirements translate into clear workstreams for Cloud, Agent, and Quant teams.

    • Create and maintain detailed project artifacts (roadmaps, sprint backlogs, dashboards) that provide visibility into status, milestones, and dependencies.

    • Roll up your sleeves to track tasks, gather status updates from stakeholders, and proactively surface or remove blockers to keep projects on schedule.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

    • Serve as the primary liaison between Security SMEs (threat researchers, architects) and the Cloud, Agent, and Quant engineering teams—facilitating working sessions, backlog refinement, and sprint planning so everyone shares a unified vision.

    • Coordinate regular stand-ups, demos, and retrospective meetings—ensuring action items are assigned, followed up on, and resolved in a timely manner.

    • Prepare and deliver concise status reports, risk/issue logs, and executive updates—using data and metrics to drive fact-based decision-making.

  • Requirements Translation & Quality Assurance Support

    • Partner with Domain Experts to translate high-level security concepts (e.g., new threat detection algorithms, vulnerability scanners, quant models) into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria for engineering.

    • Collaborate with QA teams to define test plans for security-focused features—monitoring defect trends, coordinating root cause analyses, and ensuring that compliance or regulatory artifacts are assembled for audits when necessary.

  • Process Improvement & Agile Coaching

    • Champion an Agile mindset within Domain Engineering—refining workflows, facilitating sprint retros, and introducing enhancements to increase team efficiency and collaboration.

    • Document and standardize best practices for handoffs between security, product, and engineering (e.g., requirement templates, definition of done checklists), driving continuous improvement in how we deliver security capabilities.

    • Collect metrics on cycle time, feature quality, and stakeholder satisfaction—using these insights to propose adjustments that help teams deliver sustainable value.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of project/program management experience in technology or cybersecurity organizations, ideally supporting security or risk teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects within Domain Engineering—defining scope, tracking milestones, and delivering against tight deadlines.

  • Solid understanding of security domain concepts (threat modeling, secure SDLC, vulnerability management) and how they integrate into product development.

  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban), including backlog grooming, sprint planning, stand-ups,
