Description

Purpose

To perform non-professional direct resident care duties under the supervision of nursing personnel; and to assist in maintaining a positive physical, social, and psychological environment for residents in the Skilled Nursing Facility. To perform these duties in accordance with applicable current federal, state, and local regulations and standards; and to perform these duties in accordance with the mission of Elm Terrace Gardens to promote the health and well-being of individual residents based on their functional abilities and potential.

We offer 12 hour shifts, 7a-7p and 8 hour shifts 7a-3p, full-time and part-time shifts currently available.

Resident & Nursing Care Functions - Duties

1 Assist residents with daily washing, dressing, grooming, oral care, bowel and bladder functions, preparation for medical tests and examinations.

2 Assist residents with ambulation and transport, transfer, standing, pivoting, and general mobility needs.

3 Assist residents with positioning into and out of beds, chairs, showers, bathtubs, and scales.

4 Provide nursing functions as directed by the Charge Nurse, including daily perineal care, catheter care,

repositioning of resident, and sponge baths.

5 Measuring and recording of temperature, pulse, and respiration.

6 Weighing and measuring residents

7 Performing restorative procedures and assisting with rehabilitative procedures.

8 Prepare residents for meals and snacks.

9 Identify food arrangement and components of different types of diets.

10 Assist in feeding residents as needed.

11 Perform after-meal care.

Requirements

Qualifications

I Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and completed high school, obtained the equivalent of a high school education, or be eligible to take the nurse aide competency examination within one hundred twenty (120) days of employment; or

2 Must be registered in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry with nothing pending against certification; or

3 Must be registered in the Nurse Aide Registry of another state with nothing bending against certification and be eligible for registration in Pennsylvania; and

4 Must possess the ability to speak to and be understood by residents and staff in English, and 

demonstrate the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions in English; and

5 Must possess an agreeable and helpful attitude toward senior adults.
