About the role
MAJOR FUNCTION:
Assess patients’ heart through detailed ultrasound images taken during an echocardiogram which looks at blood flow, valve function, and chamber size. Accurately record patient data and test results. Diagnostic ultrasound procedures may include but is not limited to 2-D or 3-D echocardiograms, Strain, Contrast, Doppler, TEE and Stress Echo.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a cardiac sonographer or echocardiography certificate program.
- BS degree preferred.
- Hospital training/experience required.
Certification/Licensure:
- Certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDC).
- Active certification/registry required within 6 months of hire date.
- Continuing education required to maintain certification.
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association) required.
