About the team

The Rentals Platform Team focuses on bringing the best services to our Zillow Rentals Teams.

This Platform team focuses on the infrastructure to take applications from idea to high-performance production. We partner closely with different teams including Machine learning, Infrastructure, and DevOps to build, test, and scale out applications. We accomplish this with a mix of home-grown technology and open-source software like Docker, Kubernetes, Kubeflow, and more. We are driven to help developers iterate quickly and to build valuable products for our customers.

About the role

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery and ongoing support of projects from end-to-end. In addition, you will:

• Contribute to the design of new features

• Review the code of your peers

• Advocate for standard methodologies

• Facilitate engineering discussions

• Mentor junior engineers

• Participate in an inclusive, energetic and highly multi-functional team

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $156,300.00 - $249,700.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

• Highly skilled with multiple modern development technologies used to design, deliver, debug & maintain backend software systems

• Modern object-oriented languages, API design & microservices, and other services

• Range of persistence strategies, including relational & non-relational databases

• Depth in infrastructure + containerization services on platform teams

• Preferred Skillset: Java, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, IaaS/PaaS

• Recognized as a technical leader for several years with cross-functional impact

• Passionate about setting standard methodologies and raising the bar for systems-design, testing, code quality, and maintainability --not only for the team, but for the entire engineering organization!
