Senior Manager, Product Engineering

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for our North America Product Engineering team. You will lead managers of several engineering teams working on several strategic focus areas for our company. Among these are Assessments, which includes an exciting product offering, H1 Pentest, which allows companies to leverage the vast pentesting experience of our hacker community. HackerOne was recently named as a leader in GigaOm’s ‘Penetration Testing as a Service (PTaaS) report, and we are looking to further establish our position in this exciting market. Another focus area is our new Code Review offering, which in essence helps our customers shift security left: by providing security reviews of code before it hits production, customers can prevent vulnerabilities from getting into their code bases, thereby strengthening their security posture.

What you'll Do

• Empower a team of engineers with varying levels of expertise and domain experience to achieve a high level of efficiency, quality and consistency
• Expand the team through hiring and onboarding, including mentoring and growing junior engineering managers as the team grows
• Collaborate extensively with stakeholders across the entire company. You’ll find yourself working most closely with Product, Design, your fellow engineers, and our most strategic customers, but will need strong relationships with all departments to be most effective.
• As part of an engineering leadership team that punches far above its weight, you’ll dive into projects that influence the processes, efficiency, and development of HackerOne’s Engineering department.

What You'll Not Do

• You won’t be coding. You won't directly be making technical decisions. You will provide technical mentorship and steer the team’s decision-making. However, your energy will be focused on managerial aspects of the team and the Engineering department. We view technical solutions and decision-making as driven by engineering IC leaders, and it's the job of Engineering Management at HackerOne to empower those leaders.

Who You Are

• You believe in the positive potential for technology to improve our lives, and can get excited to get out of bed each day in pursuit of strengthening privacy, security, and trustworthiness of software on a massive scale
• 5+ years of experience managing a product engineering team
• Successful track record of leading teams with multiple dependencies across technical and non-technical teams
• Experience mentoring and guiding new Engineering Managers 
• Excellent team player with strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability and willingness to consistently make culture choices that positively impact all of Engineering

Nice to Haves:
• Experience with any technologies in our main stack: PostgreSQL, Rails, GraphQL, Apollo, React
