Job Summary
Urgent care Nurse Practitioners provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
The Flex NP does not anchor at a one particular urgent care site. The Flex NP works across two sites in close proximity to one another. As patient care needs arise requiring NP, the Flex NP travels from to the respective site to render care.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
Work Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of fulltime experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting required
- Experience treating both pediatric and adult patient populations (all ages) required.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure & DEA
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting
- Comfortable with minor procedures (sutures, casts, splints, etc.), and preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
- Strong customer service skills
Essential Functions
Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. Following are the essential functions of the job.
- Examining and treating patients
- Taking patients’ medical histories
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
- Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
- Educating and counseling patients
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
- Provide clinical services on an 'as-needed' basis. Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift which will be assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care
- Examining and treating patients from birth to age 26 years
- All other duties as assigned
