About the role

As a member of OpenLight’s Silicon Photonics (SiPh) team, the Technical Program Management (TPM) candidate will be responsible for handling all aspects of multiple technical projects from start to finish. This includes managing small or large programs by gathering requirements, schedule, risks, budget, suppliers, and a cross-functional project team. The TPM will be responsible for ensuring programs meet their objectives on time within budget and with high quality. The successful candidate has a good technical understanding of OpenLight’s technology and can easily interact with Engineers from wafer processing to design and test while providing succinct updates to upper management and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate small and large programs for LiDAR, datacom, HPC customers, including setting clear objectives, a detailed schedule with critical path, high level milestones, a project budget, a resource plan and program risk assessment.
  • Drive the execution of multiple projects and programs from start to finish with a cross-functional team consisting of hardware and software engineers and managers, including wafer processing, photonic device design, layout, PDK, PIC design, systems design, test, reliability and qualification.
  • Schedule a cadence of project review meetings, milestone reviews, and help guide the project team with priorities and goals; remove barriers to help the team members succeed.
  • Coordinate multiple simultaneous projects at multiple suppliers, including various foundries, material vendors, PCB fab/assembly and test houses.
  • Drive successful risk and issue management by first identifying risks and issues, and then implementing contingency plans as well as summarizing tradeoffs for fast decision-making.
  • Standardize and implement Engineering processes and workflows as well as cadence of hardware and software releases.
  • Continuously have a consolidated view of all projects in flight and how these projects may impact each other.
  • Set up a scalable program management organization using state-of-the-art tools and by implementing automation.
  • Communicate and collaborate closely with the Business Development and Sales teams.
  • Prepare and present regular program updates to Leadership team, including OKR management and reviews.

Skills and Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Material Science, Applied Physics or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience. • Proactive, effective, agile, efficient, sense of urgency, attention to detail, strong empathy. • Ability to properly balance tradeoffs in quality, schedule and budget.
  • Good understanding of wafer processing, photonics devices and circuits in datacom, telecom, sensing, LiDAR application.
  • Proficient in Program Management tools (Microsoft Office, Jira, Smartsheet, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills
