About the team
In the realm of technological disruption, the collection and filing of indirect taxes stand as a classic challenge. Businesses operating internationally grapple with diverse tax rates, filing requirements, and registration obligations. This landscape is dynamic, with frequent rule changes and potential legal consequences for inaccurate tax calculations and filings.
Addressing this challenge head-on, we introduced Stripe Tax as a cutting-edge SaaS product in 2021. Our Global Tax Content Team, primarily based in Europe, spearheads the management of global tax content that fuels Stripe Tax. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Indirect Tax Operations Specialist to play a pivotal role in implementing and maintaining tax rules for EMEA, APAC, Canada, and LATAM.
What you will do
Essential Responsibilities
- Monitor indirect tax developments in EMEA, LATAM, APAC, and Canada.
- Identify, analyze, and communicate changes in tax laws or regulations impacting Stripe Tax content.
- Conduct testing and deployment of tax content and functionality within Stripe Tax internal systems.
- Identify and implement improvements in the end-to-end tax process.
- Provide assistance with complex customer support queries.
Other Responsibilities
- Aid in drafting and maintaining internal and user-facing tax product documentation.
- Conduct tax research to guide product expansion into new industry segments and countries.
- Offer subject matter expertise to various teams, including Product, Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing.
Who you are
We're seeking a candidate with:
- Up to 5 years of relevant experience in indirect tax within a multinational, tax software vendor, or tax advisory company.
- Robust knowledge of VAT/GST and familiarity with indirect tax systems in EMEA, APAC, LATAM, or Canada.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in tax or a related field.
- Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in tax research tools.
- The capability to analyze tax legislation and regulations in foreign languages, coupled with the ability to articulate their impact effectively to a diverse audience.
- Strong prioritization skills in a fast-changing environment.
- Capability to work remotely and independently.
- A passion for continuous learning, with an openness to new ideas and a willingness to learn from mistakes.
- A proactive approach to making things happen and the confidence to take ownership of tasks and challenges.
- A love for intellectual tax challenges, combined with a willingness to engage in operational work.
Preferred Qualifications

- Fluency in French and Spanish.
- Familiarity with leading tax automation solutions.
- Good knowledge of EU VAT law.
