General Description / Primary Purpose: This Housing and Residence Life Stores Receiving Clerk will assist with the receipt and distribution of Housing and Residence Life Facilities stored inventory. The position will work closely with the Stores Receiving Supervisor and Assistant Director for Facilities in order to maintain appropriate levels of stock and ensure power inventory practices.

Job Function: Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, recording, storing and issuing any number of commonly used maintenance and custodial items within the Department of Housing and Residence Life. This position will also compare incoming material and equipment against invoices, receipts and purchase orders. The Store Clerk will tag, record and distribute surplus property inventory, as well as assemble any items necessary. This position will also distribute materials to satellite storerooms as necessary. The Store Clerk will maintain and update storeroom inventory using the online software Inventory Direct. The staff member will also be responsible for regular inventory audits of both the main storeroom and satellite storerooms in different Housing Areas. The Store Clerk must maintain a clean and orderly storeroom and will work with the Stores Supervisor and Assistant Director for Facilities on proper standards and procedures.

Marginal Functions: Supplementary responsibilities will include special inventory requests, providing manpower during special Housing events, and other duties as assigned by either the Associate Director, Assistant Director, or Stores Supervisor.

Departmental Requirements: Ability to determine request priorities, deliver materials/supplies and insure proper completion of requests and paperwork. Ability to requisition, distribute, and monitor the use of supplies, equipment and materials. Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other. Physically, must be able to ascend stairways to gain access to 2nd and 3rd story apartments (no elevator available), ascend narrow spiral stairwells to gain access to loft bedroom unit. Ability to push, lift, or move loads of at least 35 pounds (bags of trash, cleaning carts, buffer, scrubbers, cleaning supplies, inventory pallets, manual pallet jacks, etc); ability to carry, erect, climb and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds.

Supervision Received: Close supervision. The incumbent's work is reviewed by the supervisor for accuracy and to ensure instructions are being followed.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma and one year of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Some positions may require possession of a classified driver's license appropriate to the type of vehicle operated.
