The Dell Medical School is seeking a Registered Nurse for Medical Specialties

Purpose

The Outpatient Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in an outpatient setting, ensuring high-quality care and patient satisfaction. Reporting to the Clinic Supervisor, the RN collaborates closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and administrative staff. Key responsibilities include patient assessments, administering medications, coordinating care plans, and educating patients and their families.

Responsibilities

Patient Assessment and Care Planning

  • Conducts initial patient assessments and obtains medical histories.

  • Develops and implements individualized care plans.

  • Monitors patient progress and adjusts care plans as needed.

Medication Administration

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments.

  • Ensures proper dosage and compliance with treatment regimens.

  • Monitors patients for adverse reactions and reports findings.

Patient Education

  • Educates patients and their families about medical conditions and treatment options.

  • Provides guidance on self-care techniques and preventive health measures.

  • Conducts follow-up education sessions as needed.

Clinical Procedures

  • Performs minor medical procedures such as wound care and suture removal.

  • Assists physicians with diagnostic tests and minor surgeries.

  • Prepares and maintains sterile environments for procedures.

Documentation and Coordination

  • Documents patient care in electronic health records (EHR).

  • Coordinates with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care.

  • Manages patient appointments and follow-up care

  • Conducts periodic inventory checks and restocks supplies.

  • Ensures availability of necessary medical equipment.

Telephone Triage

  • Provides medical advice and guidance to patients over the phone.

  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Assists with data collection and analysis for performance improvement

Required Qualifications

Requires a Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program. with at least 1 year(s) of experience in outpatient or clinical setting. Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
