Manager, Site Performance - Remote Position
The Manager, Site Performance is responsible for the improvement of underperforming sites within the sub region. This role partners directly with regional leadership, site resources and various other teams in VAME to ensure underperforming sites operate according to defined standards and best practices to improve safety, cost and LPF performance. This role serves as a leader and coach in identifying and managing the intervention activities (labor, technology, and other resources) needed to sustainably return sites to fulfilling contractual availability obligations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all activities at underperforming sites are executed in accordance with defined standards including proactive measures.
- Establish effective working relationships with external customers, regional leadership, site resources, New Site Startup, and partners in the VAME Technology and Operations groups.
- Work closely with regional Director and Senior Operations Managers to identify candidates for site intervention and conduct necessary due diligence to ensure improvement plans address areas of greatest need.
- Manage schedule of activities and measure the improvement of sites in the Franchise Program, deploying resources as necessary.
- Initiate Plan of the Day (POD) activities with Site Managers and key personnel to establish and build good daily operating habits and problem-solving capabilities.
- Report weekly on overall site performance and recovery progress to external customers and regional leadership, as measured by milestone completion and performance metrics.
- Mentor and develop Site Managers; support Site Managers in all employee development matters (i.e. hiring, employee relations, CPDs, performance management, performance appraisals, etc.)
- Assist in development and sustainment of a safe, high performing site culture.
- Lead / participate in daily down turbine calls with regional leaders.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent, or relevant wind experience in this specific field.
- Minimum 8 years of supervisory experience including effectively dealing with and documenting, employee performance
- Prior Site Recovery or sustained performance experience
- Ability to lead an operation with a high delegation of responsibility to team members
- P&L management experience with advanced wind service experience
- Experience and knowledge of wind turbines and power plant operations. Will consider similar industry and/or technology such as hydraulic, rotating heavy equipment service and maintenance
- Experience as a leader of field-deployed technician teams
- Experience managing safety programs that include LOTO, Electrical, Fall Arrest & High Angle Emergency Descent, and Confined Space
- Ability to complete all training requirements (Internal Training/Certificate Requirements: Manager Core Training, Leader of Others Training)
- Ability to manage and audit safe working conditions to Vestas standards (i.e. internal audits, OSHA requirements)
- Valid driver’s license required
- Requires travel including working a flexible and variable work schedule as needed to meet business objectives
- Ability to obtain a passport
- Advanced computer operation and internet-based program navigation, ability to generate and interpret computer data, ability to communicate in technical and non-technical terms
- Ability to read, interpret and understand basic drawings and schematics to develop procedures, validate work activity and ensure that risk is identified and mitigated
- Experience or familiarity with spare parts/inventory processes
