JOB TITLE: Host|Windsor Dining Room
JOB SUMMARY: Act as primary resource person for ensuring the guest is greeted warmly and professionally as well as taken to the correct table. Acts as a primary resource person for correctly taking dining reservations both via telephone and in person.
REPORTS TO: Restaurant Supervisor/ Restaurant Manager
PRIMARY DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
Prior to meal service, check the following items:
- Answer all calls in a warm and professional manner
- Check reservation & guest information is correct within Opentable
- Review menus to ensure they are clean and presentable
- Light all candles in the dining room & make sure music is on
- Be knowledgeable of hotel activities as well as other F&B information
During meal service:
- Responsible for greeting guests, seating guests and using the Opentable program.
- Pull out guest’s chairs when they are arriving
- Assist guests with information & explaining whether its buffet or ala carte.
- Work to create a pleasant experience for the guests in all respects
- Assist in clearing & setting tables
- Assist in carrying dirty trays to the kitchen
- Responsible for guest take-out orders - can receive tips!
After meal service:
- Clear out all Opentable reservations
- Make extra copies of menus if needed
- Take the trash out
- Windex front doors
- Check out with a supervisor before leaving
PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Previous work experience in food service is recommended.
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Maintaining accurate reservation system, greeting and seating guest accordingly.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work and be “on your feet” for long hours each day. Must be able to lift and carry trays ranging from one (1) to fifty (50) pounds in weight.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Schedule includes weekends and holidays and may include long hours on a daily basis. Work takes place primarily in the dining room, although other serving areas in the resort are sometimes used.
HAZARDS ENCOUNTERED: Spills or grease on walking surfaces; broken glassware or china; hot food, dishes or beverages.

Requirements
SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to problem-solve quickly when necessary (as during service hours). Good guest relations’ skills. Good communication and organizational skills.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read, write and follow verbal or written instructions. Ability to speak and understand English.
PERSONALITY REQUIREMENTS: Must genuinely enjoy working with the public and take pride in rendering fine service. Cheerfulness, a calm manner, flexibility and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
