Qualifications
Under the administration of 0941 Manager VI, Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITT) Director, the ITT Manager will manage and oversee SFO’s technology services. SFO employs a range of modern technology solutions and platforms to support the delivery of the Airport’s business goals. SFO’s technology vision is to provide solutions that empower our passengers, stakeholders, and Commission staff. ITT’s mission is to elevate airport operations by implementing the right technology in service of our people, guests, and our planet.
SFO’s technology services focus on addressing five key business challenges: (a) dealing with persistent security threats (physical and cyber); (b) improving the utilization of Airport assets; (c) optimizing the use of Airport resources; (d) evolving a modern passenger service model; and (e) managing the impact of disruptive innovation. Programs related to these five focus areas include upgrading the Airport’s security and surveillance systems, modernizing the airfield management systems, providing safety inspection and citation management applications, developing airport applications that improve the reporting and resolution of issues, developing a suite of solutions to manage ground transportation, and partnering with Silicon Valley leaders to prototype new Airport solutions.

- Manages technical and professional staff, including recruitment, performance goals, reviews, and training plans.
- Trains, evaluates, and mentors subordinates use of development tools to ensure critical knowledge, skills and abilities are available to support the applications, future implementations and application upgrades, monitors and reports on development team performance.
- Uses creative technology, infrastructure design principles and advanced design engineering leading practices to meet business requirements and user needs while minimizing customization of out of the box content.
- Stays up to date with knowledge of software, hardware, and technology used for technical development activities.
- Develops, implements and maintains procedures, administrative monitoring practices and controls to obtain smooth and effective operation of unit; coordinates work activities within ITT to prevent delays in required actions or to improve programs or services.
- Collaborates with senior business leaders to analyze and resolve complex business problems, evaluates the impact of potential solutions from both business and technical perspectives.
- Partners with Airport-wide leaders define business objectives and integrate shared solutions.
- Provides technical subject- matter expertise for the area/discipline of supervision; directs research of complex, highly technical issues; analyzes alternative solutions or approaches; recommends most effective course of action.
