KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools that prepares students for success in college and life. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in The Bronx.  Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond – and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students.  Today, our New York City network is comprised of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive support program for our alumni. KIPP NYC Public Schools currently serves more than 9,350 students and alumni and has a staff of more than 850. KIPP NYC is continuing to grow and opened two new middle schools and an elementary school August 2021!

Job Description

Position Overview

The KIPP NYC Manager of Development Data and Systems will drive the creation of team systems, pipeline management, and prospect research and development. Through systems building, research, and data management, the Manager of Development Data and Systems will collaborate across the team to manage aspects of prospect research, pipeline development, progress monitoring, research, and database management.  The Manager will report directly to our Managing Director of Development and be a part of the KIPP NYC External Affairs team.

This role is based in NYC and will require travel to our schools. Cadence and frequency of travel to schools is determined by your leadership team. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC. It is important that you notify HR if you move or have plans to relocate.

General Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Research

  • Drive the donor identification and qualification process by providing comprehensive screening and research of prospects, elevating new potential donors and opportunities to deepen relationships with existing donors.
  • Implement standardized procedures for fielding prospect research requests and disseminating research.
  • Fulfill timely research requests for leadership as requested, providing thorough, digestible and actionable summaries that enable effective relationship building.
  • Use a variety of resources (i.e., i-Wave, Raiser’s Edge) to assess potential donors' capacity and propensity to donate, as well as to identify upgrade potential and opportunities for current donors.

Pipeline Management

  • Drive the moves management process by working closely with frontline fundraisers, attending regular pipeline meetings and working with the team to set and meet key metrics, including detailed prospect briefings and communication regarding finance needs for grant reporting and other restricted funding needs
  • Manage and maintain Raiser’s Edge reports, dashboards, tracking systems and lists to monitor fundraising performance, prospect analysis and portfolio upkeep, including but not limited to, workflow process management, database upkeep and automated prompts for excellent relationship stewardship.

CRM Management

  • Set up, refine, and maintain documentation of team systems, key activities, donor communications, and donor information in Raiser’s Edge
  • Manage Online Express administration (webpage set-up, list set-up, automated thank you’s, etc) for online giving and mass appeal fundraising
  • Set up systems to regularly monitor and update accuracy of donor records; drive team goals and engagement around accurate donor information and records

Financial Reconciliation

  • Maintain weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual progress monitoring to inform development team activity, including monthly meetings with the Finance team to reconcile fundraising finances
  • Maintain finance and development systems and information sharing in collaboration with Senior Associate of External Affairs

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, fundraising or client research, and data management experience 
  • Basic understanding of non-profit finance and grant management preferred
  • Functional Experience:
    • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar constituent relationship management tools 
    • Experience with moves management or other pipeline management system a plus
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders
