Responsibilities
Professionals in network engineering are responsible for designing, implementing, and managing computer networks to ensure reliable and efficient communication and connectivity within organizations. They utilize their expertise in network architecture, protocols, and technologies to plan, deploy, and optimize network infrastructure to meet business requirements and support organizational goals. Typical responsibilities include designing network topologies, selecting and configuring networking equipment, such as routers, switches, and firewalls, and implementing network security measures to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access. Network engineering roles also involve monitoring network performance, analyzing traffic patterns, and troubleshooting network issues to identify and resolve connectivity and performance problems. Additionally, professionals may collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators, software developers, and cybersecurity specialists, to integrate network solutions with other IT systems and applications. Their expertise in areas such as routing and switching, network virtualization, wireless networking, and cloud networking enables organizations to maintain robust and scalable network infrastructure that supports business operations, facilitates collaboration, and enables innovation and growth.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable network infrastructure, including hardware, software, and security components.
- Migrate and consolidate on-premise network systems into a hybrid cloud environment (AWS Secret and GovCloud).
- Ensure high availability and performance of networks, including monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Manage firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs, ensuring compliance with security protocols and FBI standards.
- Conduct regular network assessments to identify vulnerabilities, enhance cybersecurity posture, and ensure compliance with FBI and NIST guidelines.
- Support network virtualization (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware) and monitoring tools such as Splunk Enterprise.
- Oversee patch management, disaster recovery planning, and routine backup operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security engineers, systems administrators, and project managers, to support network-dependent systems and applications.
- Document network configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure continuity and knowledge sharing.
- Manage user access, identity management, and network policy enforcement to protect sensitive systems and data.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship required.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Proven expertise in managing Cisco networking technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
- Experience with network virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).
- Experience using Splunk or similar tools for monitoring and analyzing network performance.
- Ability to develop and implement network migration plans to cloud platforms (AWS or similar).
Mid Level:
Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience of hands-on experience in enterprise-level network design, implementation, and administration.
Compensation: $103,800 - $162,225
Senior Level
Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years of experience of hands-on experience in enterprise-level network design, implementation, and administration.
Compensation: $125,500 - $196,075
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting networks in classified environments with strict compliance to NIST standards.
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS EC2, RDS, S3) and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Working knowledge of disaster recovery planning and failover cluster management.
- Experience using advanced network management tools like Citrix XenCenter, Dell OpenManage Enterprise, and Cisco Network Analysis tools.
- Solid documentation and technical writing skills.
- Solid understanding of network security protocols, including firewalls, encryption, and intrusion prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Familiarity with patch management tools such as WSUS, SCCM, and BigFix.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server 2019, and Red Hat Linux systems.
