POSITION SUMMARY: This position works with Purchasing, MP&L and Quality to ensure that supplier’s products meet customer specific requirements. This position is cross-functionally with all of the internal departments within SA Automotive and directly with all active suppliers.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Maintain Nonconforming Material log and hold cage including but not limited to coordinating efforts to disposition nonconforming material in a timely fashion by working with all appropriate members of Quality, Production & Materials Control.
- Will issue nonconforming product notifications to suppliers as soon as possible after the occurrence of the issue and track all issues to closure.
- Shall drive the preventive and corrective action program for all suppliers and will be responsible for supporting Supply Chain Management in driving compliance customer specific requirements.
- Work with Supply Chain to drive supplier process and materials compliance with customer specific requirements.
- Collect and analyze data to track improvement related to supplier performance.
- Coordinate and review annual supplier PPAP’s when required.
- Compile month end supplier performance report cards and react accordingly to drive resolution to sub-par suppliers.
- Track non-conformances that interrupt production for cost recovery related to the supplier, man hours, dumpster fees, expedite charges and all other costs associated with supplier nonconforming material.
- Act in conformance with the Supplier Manual.
- May be required to perform other functions at the direction of the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:
- Requires a high school diploma/GED and a Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical and non-technical documents including but not limited to contracts, product drawings, and product specifications.
- Must be able to interface with technical and non-technical personnel such as inspectors, designers, buyers, vendors, manufacturing personnel, and management.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards
- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Previous auditing experience desired
- Must demonstrate attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task with ease
Essential Functional Competency:
- Annual Supplier PPAP: Track, approve, manage, and report out QE’s and Quality Manager
- Supplier Quality: Track all supplier issues through to on-time closure.
- Publish Supplier Score Cards to supply base and internally.
- Report out to management regarding score card status and supplier PPAP status.
- Work with supplier partners for development of the supplier’s processes that impact their quality score.
- Implement escalation process as needed based on documented processes.
- Manage detailed open issues for complex or on-going supplier related problems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift and move objects up to 35 pounds. Must be able to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend and sit, use hands to finger, handle, or touch office equipment and production environment such as gages & fixtures. Ability to travel between plant locations as required. Must be able to decipher color.
