The Center for Impact Finance (CIF) at the Carsey School of Public Policy addresses income and wealth inequality and increases access to capital for underserved communities, through research, training, and practitioner driven solutions. With a successful track record of working within communities and as respected thought leaders in the field of community and economic development, the Center conducts original applied research, develops initiatives, designs programs, and implements financing products, projects, and policies that address societal changes.
CIF needs a Program and Operations Director to assist the Executive Director in overseeing its day-to-day operations and strategic planning, ensuring the efficient delivery of services, including budget, staff, and logistics. The Program and Operations Director must have at least 10 years of experience with project management, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, budgetary management skills, and knowledge of community and economic development finance, policy, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in grant writing.
Duties/Responsibilities
Assisting the CIF Executive Director in developing and implementing strategic and operating plans for CIF, aligning with organizational goals and objectives. Specifically, working with the Director to analyze opportunities and develop, promote, and deliver an applied research, advisory, and training agenda that responds to the emerging needs of the impact finance field and advances innovative and impactful practices within it, and leading cross-organizational initiatives. (20%)
Assisting the Director in managing CIF’s day-to-day operations, including resource allocation and budget management and oversight. (20%)
Assisting the Director to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to amplify CIF’s impact. (20%)
Working with UNH Sponsored Programs Administration, Procurement, and other internal partners to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and compliance requirements. (20%)
Leading and managing research projects and advisory services as a principal investigator or co-investigator, with responsibilities to include developing funding sources and writing grant proposals, managing client and funder relationships, developing and overseeing workplans, author reports and publications, and delivering presentations. (20%)
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Master’s degree in a field relevant to community development finance such as public policy, community development, business or urban planning.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
At least 10 years of experience in finance, community development or related field, with demonstrated experience in grant writing.
Strong research and data analysis skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze technical and quantitative information, particularly related to community development finance and to synthesize findings for decision making.
Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in real-time in a diversity of team settings.
A record of excellent financial analysis, writing, and verbal skills.
Excellent organization skills, detail orientation, and the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Commitment to the community development sector and the critical role of nonprofit organizations in driving social change.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with co-workers and representatives from the nonprofit, corporate, philanthropic, and public sectors, and with a diverse range of individuals and organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with budget and grant management within an academic institution.
