Position Summary

The role of the Certified Nursing Aide reports clerically to the Center Manager. This position, under supervision of the Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting with living and safety needs of PACE participants. This position collaborates with various members of the participants care team to ensure safe quality care.

 

Essential Position Responsibilities


Attend daily meetings and scheduled interdisciplinary team meetings to represent dayroom and direct care staff in participant discussions
Meet participant’s personal hygiene and basic care needs in a timely, safe and caring manner
Assist participants with activities of daily living, such as showering, feeding, ambulation, toileting and other activities
Respond to call lights promptly and fulfills participants’ requests or obtains appropriate assistance
Obtain vital signs and record in electronic medical record
Collect data and record activity and participant care information within the electronic medical record and ensures information is accurate, timely and recorded according to established guidelines
Observe participants for emotional, behavioral, physical changes in condition including but not limited to any changes in mood, skin integrity, bowel and bladder status, food and fluid intake, speech, ambulation and transfer ability and report changes in participant status to the clinic personnel according to policy requirements
Assist with meal service in providing food and drink for participants, assisting with feeding as needed. Refer to and follow dietary orders for participant meals
Follow and assist with emergency procedures of PACE center
Assist with transfer and follows transfer and ambulation order of participants
Ensure participants are comfortable and privacy is maintained in all interactions, including other participants and staff
Function as a member of the interdisciplinary team and collaborate regarding care planning and service allocation decisions, as appropriate
Complete all documentation requirements in the medical record in a timely fashion; according to policy
Support quality improvement efforts
Protect privacy and maintain confidentiality of employee, participant, and sensitive agency information


 

Qualifications


Education: High School Diploma or GED
Licensure and Certifications: CPR, required. Certification as Nursing Assistant, required. Valid Arkansas Drivers License and auto insurance, required.
Experience: Minimum of one-year experience working with frail and elderly population, required.  One-year experience within a hospital, home care or nursing facility preferred.   “Comparable experience” should include skills such as 1) Temperature, Pulse and Respirations (TPR); 2) Blood pressure (BP); 3) bed baths/showers; and 4) Activities of Daily Living (ADL).


 

Work Environment: This position spends 80% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position spends 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position has exposure to communicable disease and body fluids.
