Reporting to the Manager of Data Products, the Data Analyst II is responsible for training and assisting health plan customers in utilizing Availity’s business intelligence tools for research and/or other unique statistical or healthcare related data analysis. This position is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with external health plan customers through training, assistance with data reporting, troubleshooting issues reported, and ensuring the customer’s reporting needs are met.

To be qualified for this position:

  • Associate degree or the equivalent in work experience.

  • Proficient knowledge of SQL language. This is required to be considered for the role.

  • Business Intelligence tool experience. (Cognos, Tableau, Power BI etc). This is required to be considered for the role.

  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work with a minimal amount of direction while being pro-active in keeping their management informed of project related issues.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Ability to work under pressure.  Maintains composure and professionalism in an interrupt-driven environment.  Must be able to multi-task.

  • Must be flexible and embrace change.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Excellent problem solving, organizational, and priority management skills.

You will set yourself apart:

  • Previous experience in a Business Analyst or Data Analyst role.

  • Basic knowledge of the health care/payer/insurance industry.

  • Experience with Cognos or any other reporting tools.

  • Advanced knowledge In Excel.

  • Experience with AWS QuickSight. This is highly preferred.

  • Experience building Dashboards and Datasets.

You will be:

  • Monitoring emails for requests and inquiries from Health Plan customers, tracking progress in JIRA.

  • Facilitating recurring customer calls to provide training and updates for open items.

  • Assisting with building reports and providing innovative solutions to complex requests.

  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Assisting with projects and enhancements as assigned to contribute to Availity’s overall business goals. Projects could include ad hoc reporting, searches and reviews, program evaluation, quality initiatives, analysis, development, etc.

  • Following protocols for how to handle, process, and clean data.

  • Documenting and triaging of data problems that were identified and corrected.

  • Supporting the workload and priorities of the team when needed.
