Overview:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reconcile assigned accounts on a daily basis, including higher complexity level reconciliations.
• Ensure transactions are classified and recorded according to established policies and procedures.
• Gather and research data to prepare semi-routine financial and accounting reports, summaries, and statements, including regular departmental reporting assignments.
• Maintain proper procedures relating to accounting policy.
• Provide analysis of variances and apply knowledge for resolution and process improvement needs.
• Interact with internal and external (vendor) business partners as required.
• Complete complex and non-standard analyses and decisioning according to established procedures.
• Identify and troubleshoot variances indicating system issues.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Required:

Associate’s degree and a minimum of 1 years’ general work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 3 years’ higher education and/or work experience

Strong working knowledge of pertinent spreadsheet software

Strong analytical skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum of 4 years’ bank operations experience

Prior accounting and/or reconciliation experience

Knowledge of pertinent Bank systems
