The University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Occupational Therapy, is offering an outstanding opportunity for an occupational therapist to join our faculty. This non-tenure track position will be a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. Teaching professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Anticipated start date is Summer 2026.

As a member of the Division of Occupational Therapy, the successful candidate will participate in teaching, and scholarship, and there may be opportunity for clinical work. The Assistant Teaching Professor will teach required courses in the Master of Occupational Therapy Program (MOT) on topics such as hand therapy, physical disabilities, and/or assistive technology. Additional duties will include leading the Hand Therapy Fellowship, graduate project and general student advising, as well as engagement in scholarship, curriculum evaluation and development and other teaching administration activities.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. 

COMPENSATION

The base salary range for this position will be $8,000 - $12,161 per month ($96,000 - $145,932 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

More than 25 of our faculty are based at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, which are UW Medicine-affiliated organizations. The Sports and Spine division provides care at seven clinics throughout the UW Medicine system.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in occupational therapy or other relevant field
• Initial National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification
• Must hold or be eligible for occupational therapy licensure in the state of Washington
• At least three years of experience in occupational therapy practice
• Demonstrated expertise in a clinical area of occupational therapy including, but not limited to, hand therapy, adult physical disabilities practice, and/or assistive technology.
