Project Scope:
Implement lubrication best practices on critical plant equipment.
Project Description:
The Sylacauga site has more than 30 lubrication systems on critical plant equipment. This project consists of documenting the current state of lube systems then working to improve the function of the systems. Improvements will include, designing, specifying and adding additional features to the systems. Additional features may include primary and secondary filtration, lubrication heating & cooling systems via heat exchangers, flow control, flow monitoring, on-line condition monitoring and safety interlocks.
All improvements will be documented in SAP complete with Asset Listings, Preventive Maintenance Plans, Bill of Materials and Equipment Setpoints.
The individual will be working in an office environment as well as spending time in the field. He or She will get to work with equipment vendors, engineers, maintenance technicians, electricians and production operators.
Project Learning Objectives:
This individual will have the opportunity to learn about some of Sylacauga’s most critical equipment and how it functions. They will learn about plant automation, industrial lubricants, lubricating systems, pumps, filtering systems, flow meters and flow switches. They will also learn the importance of making a complex system easy for anyone to understand and maintain.
