This is a multi-disciplinary team with specialists in geomorphology, hydrology, hydro-ecology, water quality and hydrogeology. We work for clients from across the public and private sectors, including the Environment Agency, Highways England, Water Companies, River Trusts as well as developers and overseas clients. We are also involved in major ongoing projects such as HS2 and Lower Thames Crossing, and are responsible for water environment chapters in ES’s and WFD assessments.</p><p>A selection of our current and recent projects includes:</p><ul><li>Developing catchment wide river restoration plans for water companies</li><li>Delivering hydrological reviews / water balance studies for a range of purposes, such as determining supply sources and ensuring a canal remains sufficiently full despite its top up water supply failing</li><li>Design, modelling and installation of NFM measures for the upper Darent in Kent</li><li>Developing a modelling approach to inform management decisions at water level dependent designated sites</li><li>Producing the Fish and Eel Pass Guide to enable safe passage at in channel structures such as pumping stations and weirs</li><li>Designing and helping delivering awards fish passes and river restoration schemes</li><li>Deriving catchment improvements for the River Rede, to improve the health of the river</li></ul><p><strong>Job Responsibilities:</strong></p><p>The successful candidate will be responsible for high quality project delivery. They should bring unique expertise on specific technologies or processes, will be able to apply acquired expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges, provide coaching to peers and team members, and will be sought for technical experience and able to influence suppliers.  The job involves:</p><ul><li>Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team</li><li>Water quality studies</li><li>Hydrological investigations (including typical as well as drought flows)</li><li>Use of varied tools to deliver outcomes (software, models etc.)</li><li>Hydroecological studies</li><li>WFD / Environmental Compliance/ EIA studies</li><li>Project management (including client management), technical proposal and report writing.</li></ul><p>All members of the Water Environment team take an active role in client contact and commercial aspects of our projects. Health, safety and environmental considerations underpin all of our work.</p><p>The majority of our work is in the fluvial environment, although a significant proportion is also focused on estuaries, lakes and the marine environment.</p><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Have a degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject (geography, physical sciences, engineering etc.)</li><li>Highly numerate with analytical / statistical skills</li><li>Experience analysing large datasets</li><li>Proficiency in the application of hydrological software and environmental modelling (hydrological/ hydraulic/ water quality/ water resources)</li><li>Proficiency in GIS software</li><li>Report writing skills and ability to clearly present complex technical information visually and orally to a wide audience</li><li>Experienced in technical project delivery (from bid preparation/ drafting technical proposals to project management)</li><li>Track record of project management</li><li>Ability to coordinate, liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders</li><li>Knowledge of the water cycle</li><li>Understanding of legislative requirements and other drivers</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul><li>Coding experience</li><li>Experience of stakeholder engagement</li><li>An MSc or PhD in a relevant subject</li><li>Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. CIWEM)</li><li>Travel to site</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p><strong>You can learn more about us here: </strong><a href="https://indd.adobe.com/view/2b7c8e4d-0e4e-42eb-8593-5b5b7423db61">2023 AECOM Candidate Brochure (adobe.com)</a></p><p><strong>About AECOM</strong></p><p>AECOM is the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, delivering professional services throughout the project lifecycle – from advisory, planning, design and
