Program Coordinator- Seniors

GENERAL PURPOSE
Coordinates, supervises, plans, develops, and evaluates comprehensive community programs for adults age 55+. Promotes interest, growth and generates public awareness of the senior services program. This position requires a fair amount of flexibility as it may include evening and weekend hours depending on program or event needs. This position requires administrative and professional work in a busy, fast-paced and distracted work environment. This is a hands-on position, interacting daily with older adults, the business community and the public.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
(A)Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Gerontology, Recreation, or a closely related field.
(B)Minimum 2 years' experience successfully developing programs for senior citizens; or
(C)An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A)Considerable knowledge of community programs, services, planning and administration; Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community program and services.
(B)Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment; Skill in First Aid and CPR.
(C)Ability to develop, coordinate and direct varied activities involved in community programs and services; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders and the public.
(D)Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and ability to plan and supervise the work of paid staff and volunteers.
(E)Strong computer and software skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(A)Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a Chauffeur's license.
(B)First aid and CPR certification.
(C)Complete required FEMA certifications
